HEMOENCEPHALOGRAPHY FEEDBACK TRAINING (nIR-pIR) WHAT IS HEMOENCEPHALOGRAPY TRAINING? Is a form of biofeedback training that helps to change the brain's energy consumption. This consumption depends from blood flow, oxygen, nutrients, and glucose. When training with HEG, the goal is to increase blood flow in the brain which also enhances our mental and emotional abilities and functioning. HEG training is divided into two modalities: Passive Infrared HEG(pIR), developed by Dr. Jeff Carmen, and Near Infrared HEG (nIR), developed and pioneered by Dr. Hershel Toomin, Sc.D. pIR Heg measures the amount of heat emitted by neurons in the pre-frontal area. nIR HEG shines a light through the skull to measure the colour of the blood in the brain tissue. What we can see with nIR HEG is that Oxygenated arterial blood is red, deoxygenated venous blood is blue. When training with HEG a demand to increase blood flow and nutrients is present. This demand results in a faster and reacher blood flow that leads to a more efficient brain functioning. How do we train you with HEG? Both Heg modalities are conducted on the Prefrontal Cortex known as the "executive control center". Hemoencephalography biofeedback can be used to treat most of the disorders treated with regular Electroencephalography Feedback or EEG feedback. HEG has shown success in working with depression, attention issues including Attention Deficiency Disorder and ADHD. To send us an email, please click here
